1. Introduction to Arab Christian Theology: We will present a brief history of Arabic Christianity that shows the diversity of the Christian church family. In addition, we will introduce major Palestinian theological movements and tendencies that respond to social, political, historical and theological challenges.

The Basics

Some trips to the Holy Land allow you to visit the cities and the ruins but don't give you a chance to really meet the people. We hope to change that.

Bethlehem: Summer of Service is an opportunity to meet and share in fellowship with Christians in a land of conflict, to meet with Palestinians and Israelis who are peacefully building toward a just solution and to walk the lands of the Bible. We hope our participants will strive not just to walk where Jesus walked but to do as Jesus did. That's why we emphasize prayer, fellowship, peace, healing, humility, service and discipleship. Each participant will have the opportunity to:

Live with a Christian Palestinian host family. Experience life as the locals do, share in every day experiences with a family in Palestine.

See the Lands of the Bible. Visit Biblical sites like Bethlehem, Shepherd's field, the Church of the Nativity, Jericho, Jerusalem, the Via Dolorosa, etc.

Study God's Word. Share in fellowship with other participants and local believers.

Meet with Israeli and Palestinian Peacemakers. Meet with organizations who are working toward a just peace and seeking nonviolent means to end the conflict.

The Purpose

Bethlehem: Summer of Service seeks to:

1) Connect the body of Christ and create church-to-church connections between believers in the United States, the Palestinian Territories and Israel. Support and encourage Middle Eastern Christians as they serve as a light within their own communities.

2) Answer the Biblical call of peacemaking. Be a neighbor to Israelis and Palestinians alike. Support those who would seek to 'love thy enemy' at a time of intense conflict at great personal risk to themselves.
